Separate Assault Arrests Top Haverhill Police Log

Two Haverhill residents face unrelated assault charges in Haverhill District Court stemming from separate investigations and arrests by Haverhill police Wednesday.

Paul Calef, 54, of 170 Washington St., Haverhill, was arrested at 12:49 a.m., Wednesday, at home, on two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Later, at 10:51 p.m., Cathleen Goros, 60, of 40 Locke St., Haverhill, was arrested at home on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Further details were unavailable by deadline.

In other police news:

Separate traffic stops by Haverhill police Tuesday resulted in arrests of a western Massachusetts woman on impaired driving and child endangerment charges, as well as another motorist and a passenger on outstanding warrants for various theft, assault, drug and motor vehicle charges.

Sophia Stanley, 31, of Wilbraham, was arrested at 12:07 a.m., Tuesday, at 1180 Main St. She was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, reckless endangerment and child endangerment (under age 6). She was also taken into custody on warrants charging her with possession of heroin and larceny under $250.

Haverhill police also report Patrick Walsh, 26; and Nicole Duty, 46, both of Groveland, were taken into custody during a traffic stop at 3:49 p.m., Tuesday, on Fletcher Avenue. Walsh was charged with driving with a suspended license. Under outstanding warrants, he was additionally charged with two counts of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, threat to commit a crime, larceny over $250, forgery of a check and uttering a false check. Duty was wanted by police on charges of larceny under $250, driving with a suspended registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle or trailer.

Also, two people arrested separately by Haverhill police on unrelated warrants face charges including drug possession and witness intimidation.

Police report Dean Falle, 41, of Salem, was taken into custody at 8:02 a.m., Wednesday, at police headquarters, 40 Bailey Boulevard. Under warrants, he was charged with possession of classes B and E drugs.

And Mark Nici, 47, of 30 Forest Acres Drive, Haverhill, was arrested at 2:16 p.m.,Tuesday, at 140 Franklin St. on warrants charging him with two counts of violation of an abuse prevention order and witness intimidation.
