A third term in office for Methuen Mayor Stephen N. Zanni, who ran uncontested in yesterday’s municipal election in that city.

On Tuesday, during an interview with Methuen Community Television carried live by WHAV, Zanni outlined his intentions for his third and final term…one of which includes downtown economic development

“The downtown has had probably—there’s14 stacks of studies that were done. People were going to do this, people were going to do that, and nothing ever came to that. So we have a couple of companies interested in actually doing an overlay of our whole downtown area with a change—a massive change. Primarily not buying up, but putting in condos, rental properties above with stores and restaurants down below…with different types of facades. So, we’re going to look at that,” Zanni said.

Zanni received just over 3,600 votes, with nearly 5,200 Methuen voters going to the polls Tuesday. Another one of Zanni’s goals for his final term in office—rehabilitating Forest Lake.
