Weather conditions are expected to improve with a blast of warmth through the day, Thursday, as the brunt of an overnight storm brought a little more than one inch of rain to Greater Haverhill.
While sporadic heavy rainfall came to the local area Wednesday night and into the morning hours, areas west of the valley and south of Boston received higher rainfall amounts in excess of two inches. A weather spotter in West Newbury reported this morning to the National Weather Service a rainfall total of 1.16 inches. In Haverhill, the storm brought some street flooding and ponding conditions in poor drainage areas earlier this morning, including streets in and around Lafayette Square and the route 125 southbound on-ramp to the Ward Hill Connector.
Power was restored as of 8:30 this morning to 1,340 National Grid electric customers who woke up in the dark in the Methuen-Lawrence area as well as 693 others in the Newbury-Rowley area. No outages or storm damage from fallen tree limbs were reported in the Haverhill area.
