Norman R. Case, 82, Veteran, Former Hale Security Guard

norman_caseNorman R. Case, 82, formerly of Haverhill, passed away at the home of his daughter Oct 23, surrounded by his family.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Alfred L. and Eileen M. (LaBelle) Case. He was raised and educated in Haverhill and was a graduate of Haverhill High School. Case served his country during the Korean War in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. For several years Case was an active member of the AMVETS Post 147 in Haverhill. He served as post commander on multiple occasions and was well known to veterans on the North Shore. Case was a security guard for 20 years at the Hale Hospital and retired in 1995. A devoted father and grandfather who loved his family dearly and was known for his great sense of humor.

He is survived by five children, Alan D. Case and his wife Julie of Key West, Fla., Wendy L. Dichirico and her husband Vincent of Georgetown, Wanda M. Garrett of Nashua, N.H., Heidi J. Cote of Berwick, Maine, and Linda Wentworth and her husband Richard of Rochester, N.H.; five grandchildren, Lacey M. Leavitt, Kimberly Dichirico, Brian Wheeler, Jarett Cote and Danielle Dichirico; two great grandchildren; and his sister Doreen R. Snow and her husband Charles W.of Danville, N.H. He was predeceased by his siblings, Ada Grimm, Arlene Jenkins, Alice Byra, Lester Case, Shirley Hamel, Loretta Collins, Dorothy Case, Richard Case, Donald Case, Victor Case, Harold Case, Kenneth Case and Donna Case; and longtime girlfriend Margie Wilkins.

Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend calling hours Friday, Oct. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery, 41 John Ward Avenue, Haverhill.
