The death of a Haverhill man found unresponsive on a Vine Street sidewalk earlier this month remains under investigation by Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s office.

Elicier Sanchez, 26, of Haverhill, died Oct. 18 at a Boston hospital of an undetermined cause, according to Carrie Kimball-Monahan, spokesperson for Blodgett. She told WHAV it is not clear if an assault took place before Sanchez was discovered in the early morning of Oct. 10.

“The medical examiner ruled recently that the cause was undetermined,” Kimball-Monahan said.  “It is not clear that there was an assault. We are still investigating.”

Haverhill Police Department received a 911 call reporting an unresponsive male on the sidewalk on Vine Street in the early morning hours of Oct. 10, according to Kimball-Monahan.  Sanchez was transported to Beth Israel Hospital. He died on Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m., she added.

Haverhill police had referred inquiries and comment on the incident to Blodgett’s office.
