Richard W. Johnson, 76, Worked at Internal Revenue Service

Richard W. Johnson, 76, of Haverhill, passed away suddenly Oct. 17, at Lawrence General Hospital.

Born Aug. 3, 1939, Johnson was the son of the late Charlton F. and Evelyn L. (Perley) Johnson.

He was educated in Haverhill, and graduated from Haverhill Trade School. For many years he worked in the shipping/receiving department at Internal Revenue Service. Music was an important part of Johnson’s life. He cherished playing his guitar, and following his favorite bands at Salisbury Beach. He was passionate about sports cars and following the success of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, having held season tickets for many years. Johnson valued the time spent with his family at their summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews, and will be remembered by his many friends, including Jim and Sherry Bourque of Atkinson, N.H., Kathy Surran and family of Tewksbury and Denise Brown and family of Salisbury. He was the brother of the late Donald A. Johnson, Cornelia Lewis and Thalia Lamparter.

Friends are invited to calling hours Friday, Oct. 23, from 10 to 10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill. Interment to follow at Linwood Cemetery.
