Beatrice A. “Betty” (Holt) Collins, 84, Worked in Local Shoe Industry

Beatrice A. “Betty” (Holt) Collins, 84, passed away Oct. 15, at Elmwood at Claremont, Claremont, N.H. Betty was the wife of Arthur Collins.

Born in Haverhill Jan. 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Herbert M. and Theresa May (Kidder) Holt.

Collins worked 41 years as a stitcher in Haverhill’s shoe industry for Goldberg Shoe, Bernie Shoe, LeSanda Shoe and Little River Shoe. She was a member of the former Pilgrim Holiness Church. She enjoyed participating in local art courses, and her sewing skills were evident in the many teddy bears she made and shred with others. Betty realized a longtime dream when she and her husband travelled to England.

Besides her husband of 52 years, Collins is survived by her brother Clifford Wentworth and his wife Shari of Newport, N.H.; nieces, Deborah Noel of Haverhill and Jody Laccase of Hampstead, N.H.; and four nephews, including William Wentworth of Newport, N.H. She was the sister of the late Lois Steeves and Erlamond Hitchcock.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 22, at Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill.
