Harry Greenlaw, 91, of Haverhill, died Monday morning, Oct. 12, at his daughter’s home in Haverhill after a brief illness.
He was born in Haverhill, Aug. 30, 1924, son of the late Ernest and Marguerite (Richardson) Greenlaw. Educated in the Haverhill school system, Greenlaw graduated from Haverhill Trade School. During World War II he served in the United States Navy attaining the rank of MoMM2C and earned an American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and European Theatre of War Medal with four stars. Upon being honorably discharged, he began a career of more than 40 years with Bell Labs from where he retired as a machine section chief. A history buff, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and children to historic sites throughout the United States. He also enjoyed maintaining his home, yard and pool.
He was the husband of the late Constance (Allen) Greenlaw who died in February and father-in-law of the late Phillip Leger who died in 2014. His survivors include a daughter, Sherrie Leger of Haverhill; her son, Michael Robey and his spouse Jeff Moore of St. Johnsbury, Vt.; a son, Steven Greenlaw and his spouse Nancy and their children, Amy Breese and her spouse Andrew, Michelle Merrill and her spouse Chad all of Ocala, Fla.; and four great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend an hour of visitation Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 11 a.m to noon at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 106 Summer St., Haverhill, followed by a Memorial Service at 12:15 at the funeral home. Interment with military honor’s will be in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
