Three weeks of free movies inspired by the father of modern horror, H.P. Lovecraft, kick off tonight at Haverhill Public Library.
SStuart Gordon’s “Dagon,” a 2001 adaptation of “The Weird Shadow Over Innsmouth,” written by Lovecraft in 1931, is being shown at 6 p.m. A boating accident runs a young man and woman ashore in a decrepit Spanish fishing town, which they discover is in the grips of an ancient sea god and its monstrous half human offspring. The film is rated R and contains some violence and nudity.
