Police Arrest Two in Separate Sunday Drunk Driving Incidents

Two Haverhill motorists are due to be arraigned Tuesday in district court on drunk or impaired driving charges following separate traffic stops Sunday evening.

Maria Mahmoud, 51, of 11 Mount Vernon Drive, Haverhill, was arrested at 6:41 p.m., Sunday, on Broadway. She was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, driving under the influence of drugs, driving without a license, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.

About a half hour later, at 7:09 p.m., police arrested Ady Beato, 34, of 52 Brook St, Haverhill, at 21 Hilldale Ave. She was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, reckless endangerment and a marked lanes violation.

In other police news, a Methuen man is due to appear in Haverhill District Court Tuesday to face a charge of driving with a suspended license in connection with an arrest Friday night at Westgate shopping plaza, 400 Lowell Ave.

Michael Chesley, 31, of Methuen, was arrested at 10:24 p.m., Friday.
