Yawnitz Wins $10,000 During Haverhill Rotary’s Rubber Duck Regatta

One of the many rubber duck “adoption” centers Haverhill Rotary established to sell contest chances.

Stanley Yawnitz of Haverhill walked away with $10,000 cash after Haverhill Rotary Club’s seventh annual Rubber Duck Regatta Saturday.

Yawnitz won the grand prize donated by Rockingham Toyota, Honda, Scion of Salem, N.H.

“The weather cooperated with a beautiful day for our seventh annual and River Ruckus activities. While the tide and winds presented a last minute challenge we did have successful finish with 5 winners,” said Rotarian Richard Sundell. The Haverhill Rotary Club dropped 10,000 specially marked rubber ducks into the Merrimack River from the Comeau Bridge during Team Haverhill’s River Ruckus. As ducks crossed the finish line, individual number markings were compared against those who “adopted” them.

Cheryl Provasoli, of Bradford, was the second place winner, receiving a White Mountain/North Conway Escape for Two, donated by Pentucket Bank of Haverhill.

In third place, Stephen Early of Bradford won a $400 Dine Around Haverhill Package, sponsored by James Page Insurance with the support of Keon’s, Butch’s Uptown and The Barking Dog restaurants and venues including Kruegers/Olivia’s, Peddler’s Daughter and Casa Blanca restaurants.

The duck of retired plumber Greg Stark Sr., of Exeter, N.H., took fourth place. Stark won a Haverhill Country Club Foursome, donated by the Haverhill County Club.

Rounding out the winners was Don Maclean, of Haverhill. He won a prize from Apple Hill Golf Club, Kingston, N.H., donated by the Apple Hill Golf Club.
