Spotlight Playhouse Presents ‘The Man Who Came to Dinner’

Spotlight Playhouse presents the comedy, “The Man Who Came to Dinner,” beginning Friday, Oct. 2 at City Hall.

“The Man Who Came to Dinner” is set in a small town in Ohio. Famous and outlandish orator Sheridan Whiteside has been invited to dinner at the house of the well-off Stanley family, but before he can cross the threshold, he slips on a patch of ice and breaks his hip. He is attended to by town physician Bradley and Miss Preen, his nurse. The Stanleys, intimidated by Whiteside’s threats of legal prosecution, are forced to allow him to remain at their house for the six weeks as he recovers. Whiteside is visited by many of his odd and wonderful celebrity friends and spends his convalescence creating hilarious havoc in the Stanley home.

Show dates and times are Oct. 2, 3, 9, 10 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 11matinee at 2 p.m., at Nicholas Ross Auditorium, Haverhill City Hall, 4 Summer St.
