Anthony B. Procopio, 92

procopioAnthony B. Procopio, 92, of Methuen and a former longtime resident of Haverhill, died Sunday, Sept. 20, at The Nevins Home, Methuen.

Born in Haverhill, son of the late John and Angela (Coppola) Procopio, he attended local schools and Haverhill High School. He retired from Eastern Canvass as a cutting room supervisor after a long and successful career with the company.

A member of All Saints Parish and the former Saint Rita’s Parish of Haverhill, Procopio was an avid fisherman and former member of the Merrimack Valley Stripers Club and had the distinction of catching a 50 pound Striper in 1963.

Procopio enjoyed all of the Italian traditions that his family practiced and looked forward to during the year. He also had an affinity for cars, boats and motorcycles and enjoyed golfing, gardening, yard sales, playing poker and a good seafood dinner.

The husband of the late Pauline (Matthews) Procopio, he leaves two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Richard Newhall of Windham, N.H., and Pauline and Richard Fisher of Mansfield, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Procopio of Haverhill and Jacquelyn Procopio of Hampton, N.H.; five grandchildren, Kelly (White) Rand and her husband Derek Rand, Elizabeth Nemiroff Newhall and her husband Micah Nemiroff, Lindsay Fisher and her fiancé Sean Terry, Amy Newhall, and Shelby (Fisher) Adams and her husband Corey Adams, great grandchildren, Corey and Kayla Rand; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers Bruno Procopio and John Procopio, and sister and brother-in-law, Constance and Arthur Sanella.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Procopio’s life celebration to be held on Thursday, Sep. 24, from 4 to 6:45 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. A service of remembrance will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A private family burial service will take place on Friday to inter Procopio’s body in the family lot in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery.
