Lawrence Man Faces Charges After Bradford Disturbance

A Lawrence man is due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court on multiple charges stemming from a disturbance Friday night in the Bradford section near Ward Hill.

Essdranaum Matias, 24, of Lawrence, was arrested at 8:12 p.m., Friday, at 741 South Main St. He was charged with two counts of violating an abuse prevention order, destruction of property, threatening to commit a crime and possession of a class E drug. Matias was also taken into custody on an outstanding warrant charging him with refusing to provide a DNA database sample.

In other police news, a Haverhill man is due in court to face impaired driving charges in connection with an alleged hit and run crash Friday night.

David Phillips, 56, of 55 Varnum St., Haverhill, was arrested at 8:53 p.m., Friday, at 93 Lafayette Square.

He was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
