Robert P. Huggan, 79, of Groveland, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 15, at Lawrence General Hospital.
He was born in Boston, Oct. 21, 1935, son of the late Emerson and Hazel (Mahoney) Huggan, and he was also educated there. During the Korean War he served in the United States Navy for four years and was assigned to the U.S.S. John Paul Jones D.D. 932, attaining the rank of EN3. He earned a National Defense Service Medal and Navy Occupation Service Medal. For more than 37 years, Huggan was employed as a technician at Raytheon, Andover, from where he retired in 1995. He enjoyed horses, NASCAR, camping, time spent on the Cape, and traveling. Huggan and his wife Carol traveled to 47 states, visiting many National Parks along the way.
His survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carol A. (Venis) Huggan of Groveland; son, William A. Huggan and his wife Jennifer A. Rollins of Haverhill; two daughters, Grace M. Marcoux and her husband Timothy J. of Haverhill, and Elizabeth A. Giampa of Groveland; four grandchildren, Anne V. Marcoux, Scott A. Marcoux, Danielle C. Giampa and Stephanie L. Giampa; two great-grandchildren, Sienna J. Lynch and Graeme M. Lynch; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours Friday, Sept. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. His Funeral Service and burial in Linwood Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.
