Police Arrest Five on Drug Trafficking and Related Charges

Five people are due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court on drug trafficking charges as the result of arrests Tuesday during two separate investigations by Haverhill police detectives.

According to police, Taylor Matkivich, 22, of 231 Washington St., Haverhill, Sean Fenton, 30 and Eddy Lara-Suarez, 34, both of Lawernce, were arrested between 7:47 and 7:59 p.m., Tuesday, on Washington Avenue. Each was charged with trafficking in a class A drug (heroin/morphine/opium), drug violation near a school zone and conspiracy to violate drug laws. Fenton was also taken into custody on an outstanding warrant charging him with driving without a license.

Earlier, between 12:44 and 12:50 p.m., Tuesday, Haverhill detectives arrested James Close-McCarthy, 33, of Hampstead, N.H. and Kelsey Foster, 30, of Kingston, N.H., at 503 River St. Each was charged with trafficking a class A drug (heroin/morphine/opium) and conspiracy to violate drug laws. Close-McCarthy was additionally charged, under an outstanding warrant, with trafficking in firearms, conspiracy, distribution of a class A drug and trafficking in a class A drug.

In other police news:

A Haverhill man is facing firearms trafficking and drug dealing charges in district court after his arrest on a warrant Tuesday evening. Haverhill police report Taray Faust, 28, of 173 River St., Haverhill, was arrested at 5:31 p.m., Tuesday, at 81 Winter St. Under the warrant, he was charged with trafficking in firearms, distribution of a class B drug and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Two local men were arrested separately Tuesday on outstanding warrants were due in court to face unrelated theft charges.

According to Haverhill police, Patrick Fitzgerald, 35, of 127 How St., Haverhill, was taken into custody at 2:21 p.m., Tuesday, at 59 Washington St. on a warrant charging him with larceny over $250 and destruction of property.

At 9:19 a.m., Tuesday, Gilbert Vasquez, 19, of 2 Swasey St., Haverhill, was taken into custody at Haverhill District Court, 45 Ginty Boulevard, on a warrant charging him with shoplifting.
