Romaine C. (Daignault) Ingham, 83, Director, Amesbury Council on Aging

Romaine_InghamRomaine C. (Daignault) Ingham, 83, formerly of Haverhill, passed away Thursday, Sept. 3 at Tufts Medical Center, Boston, surrounded by her family.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late William and Angelina (Strickland) Daignault. Raised in Haverhill, she attended St. James Grammar School and was a graduate of the St. James High School, class of 1950. She furthered her education at Northern Essex Community College and received her degree in Gerontology. Ingham worked as the director of the Amesbury Council on Aging. She was fiercely independent and loved her trips to Maine. She loved a good book and was an avid reader. What she most enjoyed and cherished was the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving her are her children, Michael G. Ingham and his wife Lynn (Boudreau) of Haverhill; daughter, Janet I. Ingham of Exeter, N.H.; daughter-in-law Barbara (Valliers) Ingham of Haverhill and her former daughter-in-law, Shirley Crosley of Danville, N.H.;  brother, Ronald Daignault of Fla.; two sisters, Dianne Muese of Danville, N.H. and Marlene Hurley, of Windham, N.H.; five grandchildren, Jennifer Lopez, Michael R. Ingham, Joseph A. Ingham, Joshua Long and Drew Long; and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Robert J. Ingham, siblings, Robert Daignault Jr.; Donald Daignault; William Daignault and Dorothy Sanville.

Friends and family are invited to call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street Haverhill. Funeral services begin Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, Lincoln Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hilldale Avenue, Haverhill.
