Florina G. “Flo” (Normand) Basiliere, 100, Former Western Electric Worker

Florina G. “Flo” (Normand) Basiliere, 100, of Newburyport and a former resident of Bradford, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Brigham Manor Nursing Home, Newburyport. She was the wife of the late Edward J. Basiliere who died in 1978.

Born in Berwick, Maine, Nov. 10, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Mathias “Henry” and Laura (Leclerc) Normand. Basiliere worked as an assembler for the former Western Electric, North Andover, for 25 years until her retirement in 1980. She was a former member of Sacred Hearts Church and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

She loved all outdoor activities, was an avid gardener and loved to hike and ski. She enjoyed traveling and was able to visit many interesting destinations over the years. Her family would like to thank all the staff at Brigham Manor for their wonderful and compassionate care that she received while there.

She is survived by her son, Norman Mailhot and his wife, Carol of Bradford; three grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 8, in the Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St. in Bradford at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be Monday, Sept. 7, in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill, from 4 to 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
