Nancy Silberkleit, co-CEO of Archie Comics, discusses her role as the “accidental boss” at the iconic publisher, and how she is learning of the contributions of Haverhill’s Bob Montana—the first artist to draw Archie.
She will be in Haverhill next week for the opening of her collection of Archie memorabilia at Buttonwoods Museum.
Archie enthusiast Shaun Clancy is also heard on the program, discussing this fall’s showing of “Archie’s Betty” at Northern Essex Community College.

Glad Ms. Silberkleit has a “pro Haverhill Archie” stance – for some time it appeared that those who owned the Archie rights were trying to distance the characters and locales from Haverhill — examples = “the Brown and Gold” changed to “the Blue and Gold” ; and, some , back over a decade ago, alleged that it’s a “midwestern community” (see WikiPedia).
I am very happy to see this reversal…
