As the Haverhill city council is about to vote on a tentative contract agreement for city firefighters, Mayor James J. Fiorentini seeks to correct salary numbers submitted two weeks ago.

Fiorentini is asking the council to approve an ordinance amendment for corrected amounts with a 1.5 percent salary increase retroactive to July 1. According to figures submitted by city Human Resources Director Denise McClanahan, salaries increases under three tiers for the rank of captain were overstated by as much as $158.36. The adjusted amounts for captain are $1,218.47 for tier one, $1,269.08 under tier two and $1,319.68 for tier three.

Other corrections include raise amounts for the positions of training/education lieutenant and training deputy. The corrected amount of $1,319.68 for tier three captains was also first listed as the amount for those positions. Under the revised numbers, a training lieutenant salary would be $151.82 less, at $1,167.86, while the training deputy raise would be $158.36 more, at $1,478.04.
