Presidential Contender Lincoln Chafee Comes to Plaistow Aug. 18

Democratic presidential candidate and former Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee is be the featured speaker at an upcoming Plaistow, N.H. Democratic Town Committee meeting.

Chafee addresses the committee during its leadership election at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18 in the Nelson Room at Plaistow Public Library, 85 Main St., according to Plaistow Democratic Town Committee Acting Chairman George Hamblen. Chafee previously served as mayor of Warwick, R.I. and went on to serve as governor and U.S. senator.

“Lincoln Chafee led the state of Rhode Island out of the great recession. He increased funding to colleges and local schools. He also enacted marriage equality, expanded immigrant rights and had one of the nation’s best roll outs of the Affordable Care Act,” Hamblen said in a statement.

The local caucus will also determine delegates to New Hampshire Democratic State convention Sept 19. The public is invited to attend.
