Helen (Keith) Tufo, 91, Former Longtime Haverhill Resident

Helen (Keith) Tufo, 91, of Beverly, former longtime Haverhill resident, passed away at Essex Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Beverly, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late John J. Tufo, who died in 1986.

Born in Dover, N.H., April 21, 1924, she was one of three children of the late Hiram and Inez (Moore) Keith and was a graduate of Dover High School in Dover, NH.

Some of her favorite past times were reading, gardening, knitting, leisurely walks and crossword puzzles. Tufo also enjoyed travelling, having been to Italy, Scotland, Alaska and many of the United States National Parks. She was always ready to share her fascinating stories of the people and places she visited.

She leaves behind her three daughters, Elizabeth M. Martin and husband Walter of Nashua, N.H., Mary A. Spak and husband Francis of Salem, and Ellen F. McGrath and husband Peter of Attleboro; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Rachel Stevens of South Berwick, Maine; along with several nieces and nephews and friend, Peggy Marsh. She was predeceased by her only son, Keith N. Tufo who died in 1994 and her brother George Keith.

Visiting hours at the Monument Square Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family-Carnevale Funeral Home, 334 Main Street, Haverhill, are Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. immediately followed by services at the funeral home at 11. Private interment will be in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
