Sandown Closes ‘Deficient’ Phillips Road Bridge

A bridge closure in the town of Sandown, N.H. has prompted officials to advise local motorists seek alternate routes.

The Phillips Road Bridge in Sandown was ordered closed until further notice Thursday by the N. H. Department of Transportation due to deterioration found on the structure previously deemed deficient, according to Sandown Public Works Director Arthur Genualdo.

Genualdo told WHAV concrete barriers have been placed at the bridge and detour signs are in place to redirect traffic in that area. The Phillips Road Bridge has been on a “red list” of deficient bridges for two years, Genualdo said.

A timetable for repairs and reopening is unknown at this time.
