Water Cannon Available at Riverside Park for Cooling

A water cannon has been placed at Riverside Park, near Haverhill Stadium, to help cool residents during the current heat wave.

Mayor James J. Fiorentini said he has authorized water cannons during similar heat waves over the last few years. He has also taken other steps to help keep vulnerable residents cool.

“I want to make sure all of our residents have a place to go to cool off during the heatwave. I urge all seniors who are in need of cooling services to go to the Citizen’s Center during business hours or call the Haverhill Police Department during non-business hours and they will contact us to assist you with services,” he said Thursday.

Swasey Field water park is also available for families to “play and cool off during the summer,” a statement said. “Please make sure you stay hydrated and check on your neighbors to make sure they are okay during this heatwave,” Fiorentini added.
