Three Haverhill Police Officers Receive Promotions

Three police officers were formally promoted during a ceremony Monday in Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini’s office.

Sergeant Stephen Doherty, a 17-year veteran of the force, was promoted to lieutenant, while 20-year Patrolman John Spero and 11-year Patrolman Wayne Tracy were each promoted to sergeant.

“It makes me proud to promote officers from our police department. We have smart, hardworking men and woman protecting our city,” said Fiorentini in a statement. “Our police officers demonstrate their commitment to our city every day. I am pleased to continue to promote officers from within our police department, these promotions are well deserved.”

Public Safety Commissioner and Police Chief Alan R. DeNaro told WHAV, “All three of these officers have proven what it takes to be leaders in the Haverhill Police Department, and we are excited to welcome them into the leadership ranks as the Haverhill Police Department progresses forward.”
