Central Plaza Fight Brings Arrests for Assault

Three Haverhill residents are due in district court to face disorderly conduct and other related charges in connection with separate arrests Saturday morning.

Two people were arrested in connection with an alleged “affray,” defined as “a noisy fight between two or more people in a public place,” between 9:30 and 10 a.m.

Eric Debreceni, 41, of 127 How St., Haverhill, was arrested by police at Central Plaza, 2 Water St. He was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, affray and disorderly conduct. During an investigation, Haverhill police subsequently arrested Anthony Luechesi, 34, also of 127 How St., Haverhill, on a warrant charging him with assault and battery, idle and disorderly and affray.

Earlier, Haverhill police report Brian Smithurst, 29, of 102 Washington St., Haverhill, was arrested at 2 a.m., Saturday, at 215 River St. He was charged with one count of disorderly conduct.

In other police news:

A Haverhill man accused of repeat drug dealing was to be arraigned in court after his arrest at Haverhill police headquarters Friday on a warrant. According to police, Freddy A. Poisson, 38, of 59 John Ward Ave., Haverhill, was arrested at 9:15 a.m., Friday. Under the warrant, he was charged with distribution of a class A drug (subsequent offense).

Three people from Lawrence, including a man listed by Haverhill police as homeless, are facing theft and conspiracy charges after their arrests Sunday afternoon near the junction of Interstate 495 and route 97.

According to Haverhill police, Yolanda Hernandez, 37, and Rosa Rivera, 62, both of Lawrence, and David Martinez, 36, listed as homeless, were taken into custody shortly before 4 p.m., Sunday, at the intersection of Broadway and Monument Street. Each is charged with larceny over $250 and conspiracy. They are due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court.

A Methuen man faces a charge of drinking in public in connection with an arrest by Haverhill police Saturday morning. According to police, Steven Silva, 39, of Methuen, was arrested at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, at 108 Main Street. He is due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court.

In other weekend arrests by Haverhill police, Melissa Barber, 39, of 6 Highland St., unit 2, Haverhill, was taken into custody at 10 p.m., Sunday, at home on two unspecified outstanding warrants. Also, Omer Martinez, 36, of 24 Seventh Ave., Haverhill, was arrested at home at 10:40 p.m., Sunday, on a charge of threatening.
