Groveland Seeks Public Help in Discovering Crash Site After DWI Arrest

Groveland police are asking for the public’s help in determining where a drunk driving suspect from Andover may have crashed his car before being arrested early Friday morning.

According to Groveland police, Timothy Reilly, 48, of Andover, was arraigned at Haverhill District Court Friday on charges of driving a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of property damage and defective equipment. He was driving a blue SUV with serious front end damage and one functioning headlight when he drove past a Groveland officer on Elm Park.

“The suspect’s vehicle has serious front end damage, and the department is asking for the public’s help in identifying where he may have crashed the vehicle and what damage may have been done to private property,” a spokesperson said.

Reilly told police he was coming from Lawrence and heading home to Andover. After failing several sobriety tests, he was placed under arrest, police said.

Anyone with information on property or motor vehicle damage in the area, especially in Groveland, Lawrence, Haverhill, Methuen or Andover is encouraged to call the Groveland Police Department at (978) 521-1212.

“Our goal is to assist anyone who may have been affected by this drunken driving incident,” Deputy Chief Jeffrey Gillen said.
