Arlen W. Jacques, 82, Navy Veteran, Former School Custodian

Arlen W. Jacques, 82, a former longtime resident of Haverhill, died Wednesday, July 15, at Maplewood Center, Amesbury.

Born in Plaistow, N.H., son of the late Walter and Helen (Verrette) Jacques, he was raised mostly in Haverhill, and graduated from the former Haverhill Trade School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 until 1960 and was honorably discharged. Jacques was employed for many years as a custodian for the Haverhill School System until his retirement. A longtime member of Saint John The Baptist Parish of Haverhill, he enjoyed traveling.

A devoted husband to his late wife Antoinette (Cesiunas) Jacques, who predeceased him in 2012, he was also very fond of his dog “Charlie”.

He is survived by a sister Eleanor Kardos of New Port Richey, Florida; sisters-in-law, Genevieve Milinazzo of Topsfield, and Ann Peirce of Billerica; niece, JoEllen DiLello and her husband Thomas of Topsfield; nephew Joe Peirce and his wife Shirley of Lowell; and special friends Bob and Jan Catanzarro of Haverhill.

The funeral was this morning from the Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford.
