Police Charge Haverhill Woman with DWI After Hit and Run

A Haverhill woman is facing drunk driving and child endangerment charges in district court in connection with a hit and run crash Thursday evening.

Haverhill police report Joanna Buchino, 35, of 17 Central St., Haverhill, was arrested at 7:20 p.m., Thursday, at home. She was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, second offense; driving under the influence; child endangerment; and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.

In other police news, a police crackdown on prostitution lead to the arrest of a Haverhill man Thursday evening on a charge of paying for sexual conduct. Haverhill police report James Aldar, 63, of 55 Evergreen Drive, Haverhill, was arrested at 7 p.m., Thursday, at the intersection of Vine and Winter Streets. He is due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court.

Also, A Haverhill woman faces theft charges involving a credit card following her arrest on an outstanding warrant early Thursday. According to Haverhill police, Zaira L. Sanchez, 28, listed as homeless, with previous address at 40 White St., unit 7, Haverhill, was arrested at 6:40 a.m., Thursday, at 106 Presidential Drive. Under the warrant, she is charged with credit card fraud, receiving stolen property and larceny under $250.

A Haverhill man was faces a police charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after his arrest early Thursday in Railroad Square. Haverhill police report Paul Quinonez, 40, of 285 Washington St., Haverhill, was arrested at 12:10 a.m., Thursday.
