Local communities, including Haverhill, are preparing to hold their annual Fourth of July fireworks displays, even as police reported some apparent early revelry this week.
Haverhill’s fireworks are scheduled at 9:15 p.m., Friday, at Riverside Park, behind the Trinity Haverhill Stadium. In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks may start a little early or a few minutes late for safety concerns, according to the mayor’s office. A rain date of Monday, July 6, has also been scheduled.
Meanwhile, Haverhill police logs indicate officers responded Monday night to at least five fireworks complaints in various neighborhoods, including Macon Avenue, Cogswell Street, Locke Street, Dover Street and upper Broadway. However, only one complaint was reported to police Tuesday night on Grove Street.
Methuen holds a “musically coordinated” fireworks celebration at 9:15 p.m., Sunday, July 5,at Riverside Park, Riverside Drive, Methuen. Entertainment begins at 7 p.m. A rain date of Monday, July 6, has been scheduled. Methuen police have issued a traffic advisory for those attending and note Riverside Drive will be closed westbound between Franklin Street/Glen Avenue and Burnham Road. Also, Riverside Drive westbound from Burnham Road thru Lowell Street will be “one way” and Burnham Road will be a “one way” heading toward Riverside Drive and later subject to being closed if there are a large number of pedestrians.
Fireworks in Andover are scheduled at dusk, Saturday, July 4, at Andover High School.
Plaistow and Sandown have not announced Fourth of July activities. A town ordinance in Plaistow prohibits the use of fireworks there.
