Downtown Bar Incident Brings Two Arrests

Three Haverhill men are due to appear in district court after their arrests by police early Saturday in connection with a disturbance at a Washington Street bar.

According to Haverhill police, Akeem Bedward, 26, of 72 Belvidere Road, Haverhill; Thomas Gilchrist, 29, of 51 Pilling St., unit 2, Haverhill; and Coleatho Desir, 25, of 440 North Ave., unit 272, Haverhill were arrested at 1:42 a.m., Saturday, at the Tap Brew Pub and Restaurant, 100 Washington St. Each is charged with a single count of disorderly conduct. Police report the charge against Gilchrist is a subsequent offense.

In other police news, a Haverhill senior is due in court after his arrest Saturday on a warrant for fireworks and motor vehicle charges. Haverhill police report Benjamin Roderick, 74, of 65 River St., unit 2L, Haverhill, was taken into custody at 5:20 p.m., Saturday, at 75 Portland St. Under the warrant, he is charged with possession of fireworks, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to signal and a number plate violation.

A Haverhill man was arrested on a warrant early Saturday at the Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley, 140 Lincoln Ave., Haverhill. According to Haverhill police, John Faucher, 65, of 37 Woodcock Ave., unit 22, Haverhill, was taken into custody at 3:55 a.m., Saturday, on a warrant charging him with resisting arrest.
