Police Arrest Young Homeless Man Downtown with Drug

A man listed by Haverhill police as homeless is facing theft and drug possession charges after being arrested near Railroad Square Monday evening.

Haverhill police report Alekzander Newell, 22, was arrested at 7:50 p.m., Tuesday, at 105 Washington St. He was charged with larceny over $250 and possession of a class A drug. He was also taken into custody on a warrant charging him with disorderly conduct.

In other police news, a Haverhill man is to be arraigned in district court on an assault charge after his arrest Tuesday night in a lower Acre neighborhood. According to Haverhill police, James Emmells-Travers, 24, of 6 Rose St., second floor, was arrested at 9:16 p.m., Tuesday, on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon–a bicycle.

A Haverhill woman was also arrested on warrants charging her with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and sexual conduct for a fee. Haverhill police report Amie Noyes, 31, of 25 Washington Square, Haverhill, was taken into custody at 11:07 a.m., Tuesday, at the intersection of River and Washington streets.
