Florence A. (Angel) Champion, 100

Florence A. (Angel) Champion, 100, passed away June 15, at Lawrence General Hospital. She was the wife of the late H. Kenneth Champion.

Born in Egg Harbor City, N.J., April 29, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Harry L. and Pauline S. (Goller) Angel.

Champion graduated from Egg Harbor City High School, class of 1931, and continued her education earning her business certificate. She worked many years as a secretary, and then as a research assistant at the National Aviation Facility Experimental Center in New Jersey before retiring in 1979. While living in New Jersey she was a member of Emanuel Congregational Church, and then attended First Baptist Church following her move to Haverhill. She enjoyed nature and the outdoors, gardening and reading.

Champion is survived by her daughter, Lynn Champion of Haverhill. The last of four children, she was predeceased by her siblings, Harry L. Angel Jr., Pauline Angel and Adele Shivers.

Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral Friday, June 19, at 5:30 p.m. at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill. Calling hours will precede the funeral from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Interment is at Egg Harbor City Cemetery in New Jersey.
