Lina R. Randall, 98, Shipyard Welder During World War II

Lina R. Randall, 98, of Haverhill passed away Sunday night June 7, at Wingate at Haverhill.

She was born in Springfield, Nov. 4, 1916, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Coupal dit La Reine) DeRenzo. Randall was educated in the Haverhill public school system and attended Haverhill High School. During World War II she was employed as a welder at the Hingham shipyard. She was later employed at Western Electric from where she retired after 35 years. Randall was a candle pin bowler and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was the wife of the late “Sailor Joe” who was well known throughout Haverhill for owning Sailor Joe’s Pool Room. Randall was predeceased by her husband George Randall; two brothers, Frank and Roland DeRenzo; and two sisters, Doris and Jeanette. She is survived by her son Ron Randall and his wife Evelyn of Haverhill; two grandchildren, Lynne Caloggero and her husband Christopher of Salem, N.H., and Cynthia Bowling and her husband William of Colville, Wash.; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her graveside service Wednesday, June 10, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hilldale Avenue, Haverhill. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford.
