Council Approves Sales Fingerprinting, Background Checks, Fees

Ice cream truck vendors and taxicab or livery drivers in Haverhill will be required to undergo civil fingerprinting by police as part of criminal history background checks to obtain licensing.

Without discussion, the Haverhill city council unanimously passed revisions to a “peddling and soliciting” ordinance giving the police department authority to administer a fingerprinting process for state and federal criminal history background checks.

License applicants will be required to pay a $100 fee, part of which would be used toward a firearms fingerprint identity verification fund. The remainder will be used for administrative costs by the city.
