Whittier’s Amesbury Home Having Plant and Bake Sale

The Whittier Home Museum, 86 Friend Street, Amesbury, is observing National Historic Preservation Month with its Annual Plant and Bake Sale, Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m to1 p.m. In case of rain, the sale date is May 31.

During the sale, the poet’s Victorian garden will be open for homemade pastries and beverages in Whittier’s Garden Café, hosted by the Whittier Home’s hospitality committee.

“Our plant sale will include unique species you won’t find in garden shops,” says Chris Bryant. There will be cuttings from the Whittier Garden as well as from members’ gardens, Including prize irises, hostas, hybrids, herbs and other “discoveries” and herbs.

Donations of any of the above items are appreciated and may be left at the Whittier home Friday, morning, May 29, from 9 to noon. Otherwise, donors may call (978) 388-8888 for pickup arrangements. Empty starter pots are available on back porch of home where you may leave plant donations at any time.

Docents will be on hand to offer mini-tours of the home.
