Constance Dorothy (Drumm) Comeau, 89

Constance Dorothy (Drumm) Comeau, 89, of Bradford, passed away in the early morning hours Tuesday, May 19, at Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley, surrounded by family.

Born in Raymond, N.H., “Connie,” as she was known, was the daughter of Theodore and Ivernia (Harvey) Drumm. Comeau graduated from Haverhill High School in 1944, and the Catherine Gibbs School in Boston. In late 1945, she met the love of her life, James J. “Joe” Comeau at Tuscarora Bakery in Haverhill. Joe had recently returned from service in the South Pacific. They were married in February, 1946, and for the next 66 years Connie and Joe would build a life together. Comeau was devoted to her family and friends, and had a life-long love of music and reading. An accomplished cook, she loved nothing more than preparing meals for those she loved, and the holiday season was for her always a special time. Perhaps more than all else, she was known for her love of the beach. In the 1960s, Connie and Joe bought her beloved “Cheerio,” a cottage in Salisbury, and for the next 50 years this would be her special place. They settled in Bradford and raised a family together. They had four children and later added a fifth, coming to the family from China.

She was predeceased by her husband, who passed in 2012. She is survived by her children TJ and his wife Susan (Buote) of Haverhill, Lynne of North Andover, Michael and his wife Sheila (Hegarty) of Haverhill, Vincent and his wife Michelle (Dehner) of Maple Grove, Minn. and Mei Yuk and her husband Joe Foley of Salem, N.H.; seven grandchildren, Joey Foley, Jonathan Foley, Chris Comeau, Cate Cioni, Marissa Comeau, Connor Comeau and Samantha Comeau; five great-grandchildren; and nephew Arthur “Bill” Comeau and his wife Joanne of Assonet.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday morning, May 27, at 11 a.m., at Sacred Hearts Church 165 South Main Street Bradford, MA.
