Joyce J. Argyriadis, 65, Taught Eighth Grade Students

Joyce J. Argyriadis, 65, of Haverhill, passed away Thursday morning, May 14 ,at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House.

Argyriadis was born in Haverhill, March 15, 1950 daughter of the late Aristotle “Ted” and Esther (Apostolides) Zikos.

Mrs. “A” (as she was known by her students) was educated in the Haverhill school system and graduated from Haverhill High School. She went on to graduate from Rivier University (formally, Rivier College), a private Catholic liberal arts school in Nashua, N.H. Over her 35 year career teaching at St. Margaret’s School in Lowell,  she touched the lives of thousands of children. She taught Science, French, Religion and English to eighth grade students. She especially loved teaching the works of Shakespeare and practically knew Romeo and Juliet by heart, her favorite book. She believed in doing things the right way and with order. She believed in having good morals and values. She believed in family, love, tradition and education. She enjoyed singing in the choir at the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church in Haverhill and took pride in her deep faith. She loved to dance and to listen to music. She took excellent care of her father when he got sick and helped her husband run his restaurant.

She is survived by her husband, Dimitrios Argyriadis, along with her daughter- and son in-law, Maria (Argyriadis) Fisher and Ben Fisher, and a granddaughter Zoey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours Sunday, May 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St. Haverhill. Her funeral will be Monday beginning at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by funeral service at 10 at the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 154 Winter St. Haverhill. Interment will follow in the Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Holy Apostles Church 154-156 Winter St. Haverhill, MA 01830.
