Wallace Ramon Furber, 79, Former Air Force Air Traffic Controller

Wallace Ramon Furber, 79, of Palm Bay, Fla., and formerly of Haverhill, passed away Tuesday, May 12 in Florida.

Furber was born in Haverhill Sept. 4, 1935 son of the late Ramon W. and Christina (Robbie) Furber. He was educated in the Merrimac school system and graduated from Merrimac High School with the class of 1955. After graduating, Furber enlisted in the Air Force where he was an air traffic controller. Upon his return home, he was employed as a Machinist for 37 years at the Allied Marker Co. and P.D.F both in Haverhill. He was a parishioner at the Peoples Methodist Church for 37 Years. Furber was a member of The AACS Alumni Association, American Legion in Boston, president of the Haverhill High School Band Association and was the past assistant district commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America.

Furber is survived by his wife, Carole A. (Robinson) Furber of Palm Bay, Fla.; two sons, Jeffrey Furber of Juneau, Alaska, and David Furber and his wife Heather of Palm Bay, Fla.; sisters, Jeannie M. Garneau of Lowell, and Gladys M. Furber of Exeter, N.H.; three grandsons, Jacob and Joshua Furber of Palm Bay, Fla., and Ciaran Barrett of Washington; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Friday May 15, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. His funeral will be Saturday, May 16, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery in Georgetown.
