Mary Margaret (Ferrick) Lee, 88, Former Groveland Clerk’s Assistant

Mary Margaret (Ferrick) Lee, 88, a lifelong resident of Groveland, passed away Saturday morning at the Mary Immaculate Nursing Home in Lawrence after a lengthy illness.

Born and raised in Groveland, she was the daughter of the late, William and Mary (Lever) Ferrick. She attended Groveland public schools and was a graduate of Groveland High School, Class of 1944.

Besides the full time work of housewife and mother, Lee was a farm hand on the Lee Farm in Groveland, and for a time she was employed as a telephone operator for AT&T, she also worked as a teacher’s aide at Pentucket High school, and for many years, was an office assistant for the Groveland town clerk.

A lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Church in Groveland, she was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court St. Patrick. An avid bowler, she enjoyed playing on the Catholic Daughters bowling league. She loved her summers spent on Salisbury Beach, but most of all it was her time spent with family that was most important to her.

She leaves her beloved husband of 68 years, Coleman H. Lee; three sons, David W. Lee and his wife, Patricia, of North Hampton, N.H., Donald C. Lee and his wife, Diane (Hoffman), of Haverhill, and Douglas E. Lee and his wife, Linda, of Hopkinton; brothers William Ferrick and his wife, Nancy, of Salem, N.H., and Richard Ferrick and his wife, Patricia, of Groveland; seven  grandchildren, Jonathan Lee, Krista Tysen and her husband, Jeffrey, Nathan Lee and his wife, Michelle, Bryan Lee, Samantha Lee, Veronica Lee, and Alexandra Lee; great grandchild Penelope Lee; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, John and Edward Ferrick.

Friends and family are invited to call Tuesday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 main St. Haverhill. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning beginning at 9 from the funeral home with a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, Spring St. Groveland.
