Bridges Out of Poverty Forum Takes Place Saturday

The Social Justice Committee of Haverhill’s Universalist Unitarian Church wants the public to know what programs are available to fight local poverty and homelessness.

The public is invited to a “Bridges Out of Poverty” forum, Saturday, May 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the church, 15 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill. Issues cover anti-poverty programs and community uplift in the Greater Haverhill area. There is no charge.

“The goals of the forum are to increase awareness and educate ourselves and the public about the various local organizations and programs fighting poverty and homelessness. We will learn how we can help support these programs through joint action and become better advocates in order to reduce poverty,” according to a church statement.

Participating organizations include Community Action Inc., Emmaus House, Ruth’s House, Merrimack Valley Project and others.
