Emmaus Seeks Flowers, Fertilizer for May 16 Park Cleanup

Emmaus Inc., a local non-profit community housing agency, will hold a Spring Clean Up Day in its park, Emmaus Commons Saturday, May 16.

Team Haverhill awarded 10 grants to local non-profits to help celebrate its first decade. These “10 for 10” projects are small service or beautification projects that will make a difference and celebrate the city of Haverhill. In the award letter, Lisa Marzilli, Chairperson of Team Haverhill, said that Emmaus’ project “stood out as one that will make a difference and help us celebrate the city.”

This grant allows Emmaus to clean-up and ready Emmaus Commons for the summer. Located on the corner of Locust and Orchard Streets, Emmaus Commons is one of the city’s newest parks and was dedicated during the city’s official Sept. 11 ceremony last year.

Volunteers will spend the morning at the park, weeding, spreading mulch, planting flowers and shrubs and cleaning.

Emmaus is looking for donations of annuals, perennials, and fertilizer for this project. If you are interested in donating plants, fertilizer or monetary donations that will be used to purchase plants, contact Kaleigh Timmins at [email protected] or call (978) 241-3433.
