Updated: Michael Nicoloro Jr., 64, Vietnam War Veteran

Michael Nicoloro Jr. died Monday on his 64th birthday.

Nicoloro was born in Lynn to the late Michael Nicoloro and Joanna (Rodakis) Gore. He was educated in Lynn and earned his GED before enlisting in the Army. A decorated Vietnam War veteran, earning the Parachute Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, SPS M-14 Medal and the SPS M-16 Medal during his service. Nicoloro served as an Army Airborne Medic until his honorable discharge in 1971.

Upon his return, Nicoloro spent his adult life living on the streets of the cities of Haverhill and Groveland where he was a well known icon. Unbeknown to most of us he touched so many lives as he walked those streets everyday. This is evident by the reaction to Nicoloro’s passing and the overwhelming outpouring of shared memories of him by the people of those cities. He will be missed and remembered lovingly by so many.

Nicoloro was predeceased by his sister Yvonne Frascone. He is survived by his mother Joanna Gore of Groveland; his siblings Joseph Gore Jr. and his wife Norma of Wakefield, N.H., James Gore and his wife Karen of Salem, N.H., Jason Gore and his wife Heather of Groveland, Jon Gore and his wife Rachel of Merrimac, Michelle Briere and her husband Al of Exeter, N.H., Dorothy Rich and her husband David of Haverhill and Jayne Gore of Groveland; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A public candle vigil will be Monday, May 11 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Plugs Pond in Haverhill. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his graveside service Tuesday, May 12 at 11  a.m. in Riverview Cemetery, Groveland. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Haverhill and Bradford.
