Nicoloro Candlelight Vigil Moves to Plug Pond, Monday Night

Haverhill eighth grader Jacob Hunter Baril was moved by stories of homeless veteran Michael Nicoloro Jr., who died on his 64th birthday Monday. Baril has organized a candlelight vigil to take place from 6 to 9 p.m., Monday, May 11, at Plug Pond.

The student originally planned a ceremony Friday night at Haverhill Stadium, but other scheduled events forced a change in date and location. Working with Haverhill Recreation Director Vincent Ouellette, Plug Pond was determined to be a better location. Baril has created a Facebook page, “Candle Vigil For Our Fallen Hero Michael.”

He is asking people to “bring candles and happy faces to remember him.” Balloons are being discouraged because of latex allergies.
