Michael ‘Mike’ V. Sargent, 67, Former Heavy Equipment Operator

Michael “Mike” V. Sargent, 67, of Bradford, died Friday, May 1, at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, surrounded by his family and close friends.

He was born in Haverhill, June 6, 1947, son of the late Harold and Ann (Quimby) Sargent. Educated in St. Joseph’s Grammar School, where he was a member of the basketball team, Sargent attended Haverhill High School. For more than 19 years he was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the former Ogden Martin (now Covanta), Ward Hill. A bowler since the age of 20, he was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame and the Haverhill Sports Hall of Fame. An avid golfer, he enjoyed playing cards with his friends Tommy and Gene, cherished time playing scat and war and fishing with his sons.

His survivors include his wife of 48 years, MaryAnn (Noury) Sargent of Bradford; two sons, Chris J. Sargent of Haverhill, Michael P. and his wife Julie Sargent of Bradford;  daughter Kimberly and her husband John Finn of Bradford; 10 grandchildren, Patrick, Allison, Corey, Miranda, Christopher, Brendan, Mikayla, Shane, Kyle, and Addison, and an 11th grandchild due to arrive in October. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Lucille Noury of Bradford; brother-in-law, Jack Noury and his wife Angela of Haverhill; a sister-in-law Joanne McDermott of Bradford; step siblings, Raymond and Christine; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Tuesday, May 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. His funeral will be Wednesday morning, May 6, at 10 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
