Merrimack Valley Hospice Honors 184 Volunteers

Merrimack Valley Hospice honored its 184 volunteers during an annual reception Wednesday at Haverhill Country Club.

The event, which featured a Red Sox baseball theme, was aligned with National Volunteer Week, which honors the time, talent and special gifts that volunteers give to their communities.

“We are so fortunate to have a great volunteer team—one that includes people with diverse interests, skills and talents who work together to benefit Merrimack Valley Hospice and the patients and families in our care,” said John Albert, president and CEO of Home Health Foundation, which includes Merrimack Valley Hospice.  “It’s their collective good works and compassion for those in need that are recognized and admired across the region.”

Last year volunteers at Merrimack Valley Hospice contributed more than 9,000 hours of time, coordinating bereavement programs, helping with administrative duties and supporting patients and families in their homes, an official said. They also contributed their time at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, visiting patients and assisting with reception duties.
