The Haverhill Citizen’s Center is featuring an art exhibit at the Haverhill Public Library from now through May 28.

An opening reception takes place Tuesday, May 5, from 6 to 7:30 p.m

Cara Smoley has been teaching drawing and painting to seniors at the center for the last nine years. The exhibit includes works in oil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic and pencil.

Smoley has a BFA from the University of Colorado-Denver and a Certificate in Fine Art from the Cooper Union in New York City. She has been teaching art for more than 30 years with a wide variety of age groups: children from 4 to 8 years old, as well as inter-generational classes with adults and children.

The exhibit may be seen in the second floor gallery during regular library hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. The library will be closed for the Memorial Day weekend, May 23 to 25.
