A Lawrence man, captured by Haverhill police this morning during an investigation into a car crash on River Street involving a stolen vehicle, is due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court.

Marcos Alvarez, 19, of Lawrence, was arrested this morning during a search in the River Street area near Washington Street and the Comeau Bridge, according to Haverhill Police Captain Robert P. Pistone, police spokesperson. Alvarez is charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

Police responded to the River Street scene at around 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, after a vehicle stolen out of the Bradford section collided into a parked vehicle, Pistone told WHAV. Alvarez was located and arrested short time later during a search of the area with a police K-9 unit.
