Elizabeth ‘Betty’ A. Jackson, 91, Consentino School Secretary

Elizabeth “Betty” A. Jackson, 91, a longtime resident of Haverhill passed away early Sunday morning, April 26, at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center, Haverhill, with her family by her side.

She was born in Haverhill, Aug. 24, 1923 daughter of the late Eston and Alice (Rooney) Spaulding. Jackson was educated in the St. James School system and graduated from Haverhill High School with the class of 1940. She married her sweetheart, Albert Jackson, in 1944 and worked for a number of years for the City of Haverhill in the office of the auditor. She was later employed as a secretary at the Consentino middle school. She enjoyed spending time with her family and planning trips and family parties. She was lucky enough to be able to travel and enjoyed site seeing both in the United States and throughout Europe.

She leaves behind a very close knit group of friends and a very loving family. Betty was the ultimate caretaker. She cared for her mother and father during illnesses and two of her children while they battled cancer. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Jackson who passed away in 1985, a son Albert Jackson Jr., who passed away in 2003 and a sister Jean Clement. Jackson is survived by her children, Richard Jackson of Bradford, Susan Pressler of Salem, N.H., and Justine Tonelli and her husband Paul of Hopedale; two sisters, Jackie Bologna of Haverhill and Connie Hosford of Bradford; a brother-in-law Charles Clement of Ann Arbor, Mich.; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Her family thanka the staff at Hannah Duston as well a Fidelis Hospice for the wonderful care Jackson received while in their care.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Thursday, April 30, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St. Haverhill. Her funeral will be Friday, May 1, starting at 10 a.m. from the funeral home followed funeral mass at 11 a.m. at Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St. Bradford. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford.
