Vincent M. Cardarelli, 89, Army Veteran

Vincent M. Cardarelli, 89, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, passed away Sunday, April 26, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill.

He was born on Feb. 26, 1926 in Lawrence, the son of the late, Michael N. and Josephine (Salvucci) Cardarelli. He was raised and educated in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1943. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. Cardarelli had worked as a chemist/color matcher in the local shoe industry for nearly 50 years. He was appointed to the Haverhill Council on Aging and was an active member from 1990 to 2005.

He took pride in his home and especially in his yard, with a view of the Merrimack River. He enjoyed tending to his garden and will be remembered for the tomatoes and flowers which he grew. Cardarelli was also very proud of his Italian heritage, and was a member of the Victor Emanuel Lodge #1646 Sons of Italy in Haverhill. He always looked forward to his monthly gatherings over coffee with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pauline M. (Boulet) Cardarelli of Haverhill; daughterLisa Murphy and her husband, attorney Brian R. of Methuen; son, David J. Cardarelli of Haverhill; grandson Lake Murphy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers John, Mario and Joseph Cardarelli.

Family and friends are invited to attend Cardarelli’s life celebration Wednesday, April 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA 01832. His funeral is Thursday, April 30,  at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at 10 at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue in Haverhill.
